Post by adey2003 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 4:55 pm

Turned my 3d printer on today, display showed 2 rows of black squares, and usb wont connect just times out.

Maybe it's the Crystal Oscillator, you can check if it has a good soldering.
Then measure the voltage between the 2 pins(both sides of Crystal Oscillator)and GND separately.

Strange thing...
1.You said it appeared two rows of black squares, while the lcd seems fine after that.
Maybe you can show me the issue with a video.
2.Check if the LCD wiring has a good connection.
3.About the msg "no start signal detected",you can check if the baud rate is right and plug the usb cable to another USB port on computer.

It just wont start up, checked all com port and baud settings, my friends spare board worked on it, and lcd displayed fine, he thinks the board is faulty.
