Both my Hot Ends Melted!!!! (Delta Rostock mini G2s)

Post by ianbn » Mon Sep 28, 2015 4:52 am

Hi All,

I am calling out for help from anyone out there.......i have spent the last days building and calibrating my Delta Rostock mini G2s to the last milli meter. All went well and must admit was quite a fun experience but now i am stuck!!!!

I tried to do my first print and first the Extruder would not feed the Filament if i feed it manually through Repetier while the printer is idle and when the hot end is above 170 degrees it moves both up and down with no problems at all but then when its printing the motor seems to turn but does not push the filament through the Hot end.

I thought it was not hot enough to melt the filament so I also tried raising the temperature of the Hot end from 200 to 230 but still nothing. The printer is doing the motions as though it is printing but no filament is coming out.

Then after a few minutes not more than 10 min the Hot end tip fell off, it completely melted off. (To be honest i was quite surprised to see they where made of plastic when they have to go up to such high temperature!!!) So as a quick fix i switched round the hot end to use the second one (as the G2s has two tips) and exactly the same thing happened. So now i am stuck with a printer which is calibrated but with no Hot ends!!!

Does anyone have any advice on what i can do please i am desperate, i was thinking of ordering the Metal long-distance J-head with cooling fan & Cartridge heater from : http://www.geeetech.com/metal-longdista ... p-795.html Does anyone know if it fits the Delta Rostock mini G2s and if it does would it SOLVE my problem or NOT.

I would greatly appreciate any form of help

Thank you
Ian

"when its printing the motor seems to turn but does not push the filament through the Hot end."
Have you tried adjust the tension screw on the extruder ?
And as for the melted hotend, you can contact the seller to replace them with metal ones.
