suggestions for improving assembly instructions

Post by Dmon96 » Mon Aug 17, 2015 11:56 pm

I have just finished assembling my new Geeetech Prusa I3 X using your pdf instructions and Youtube videos.

I would suggest that you get someone to proofread the pdf - there are several sections of the build completely missing, and the needed bolts are sometime given as the wrong part number. The Youtube videos are helpful, but even those could be improved - for one, have the assembly built from a color of acrylic other than black - detail is lost in most of the videos, and all that is seen is a black lump. Also, I realize that the videos were made with a stationary camera but closeups of more involved assemblies would be greatly appreciated. Your printer kit is excellent, but is known for horrible instructions and it is regrettable that this may result in some purchasers going to other manufacturers.

My suggestion for improving not only assembly, but fault finding is to not delay posts and have them individually approved before hand and just moderate what has been posted. Some posts have take 8-12 ours to be approved causing immense time lags in the building and fault finding process.

Help reduce out frustration please.

Hi, delivery of my g2s took longer than expected so i had some time to research instructions. I did find a review of device that nicely pointed out things that were wrong with instructions, but all so pointed out some design faults.
But for technical person they are good enough, some spider steps should be inverted and added.

i know that this model is now discontinued and replaced by metal one, but mine came 2 weeks ago and was plastic one. I can understand use of acrylic because of the price.

in the instructions for plastic spider:

Tight hole for leveling probe should not be filled, but instead pin should be heated and forced true hole to make smooth hole without sideway play.
since you have now moved to metal spiders this makes problem irrelevant.

End-stop should not be put first because you then cannot complete spider legs.

i am going to order metal upgrade kit, i can review instructions then.

one thing i did when i ordered my kit was watch youtube. alot of it is a little basic but helpful.

The only fault i found was when building the Y platform, theres no length mentioned from the front plate to the back.

This is important as if u make it too short you dont get to use all the 200mm on the Y Axis. I currently can only use about 190mm.

A pain but i can live with it so far, cause to remedy it i will have to get a new Y Axis belt, but simple fix.
