A10M first turn on has killed my PC.....

Post by Boraes » Sat Jun 08, 2019 1:17 pm

Okay I literally just spent the entire evening setting up the A10M.

Plugged usb into pc, flipped the switch on my printer and my pc has died and will not power up at all.

Power is going through it as a lamp I have plugged into the pc via usb is showing some trickle of power but won’t turn on either.

I’m now going through all the usual steps, unplugging everything, checking cables and leads etc.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have stripped my PC and tested each component within my PC, (who needs sleep :o ). Using the good ol' 'jump starting the PSU with a paper clip in the green and black pins' trick and I've found that the peripherals plugged into the PSU all run and power up, but when the psu is connected back to the mobo there's no life using that method or the 'test fire' button my PSU has. :geek:

So now it's time to grab a multi-meter and test each rail against the pinout layout. Usually the 12v, 5v + 3v pins all have a tolerence of +/-5%. Currently my power pins are all outputting values way below the values they should be e.g 5v pin showing 3v, 3v pin showing 1.5v. :ugeek:

So currently all signs point to this being a shafted PSU.

I've been able to get a 750w EVGA SuperNOVA G1+ Gold Modular ATX PSU ordered for pre-12pm tomorrow to replace mine and hopefully that will sort it. If that doesn't then it can only be a dead mobo

Mean while..... with a feeling of suspense and apprehension I shall test fire the printer using my laptop..... Why is life NEVER just nice and easy? :D :P :) :(

Wish me luck all!
