A10M Thermal Runaway - Halted at Startup

Post by Jmccoy45 » Sat May 18, 2019 9:51 pm

Right away when I turn on my printer with everything plugged in the way it should I get the error "E1 THERMAL RUNAWAY PRINT HALTED Please Reset". If I unplug the heat sensor for the hot end the machine to turn on like normal, except it will give a temperature reading for the extruder of around -22.

Yesterday everything was in fine working order. Since then I had taken apart and replaced the hot end to try out a new carriage assembly. I continued to use Vert's Marlin 2.0.X build 306 which I've left largely unchanged from the version already flashed to the machine, which was working beautifully. The only adjustments I made were to the necessary BL Touch alignments.

I have three different heat sensors I've tried, one brand new was unopened, and two others that had previously worked without issue in the past. I've tried flashing the firmware with different thermistor numbers (the one I was using said to use #11) but the ones I've tried haven't fixed the problem.

I've measured the heat sensor wiring for resistance and do get readings so I know the wires aren't (completely) destroyed. I also measure 5V power coming from the on-carriage mini PCB board, so its delivering power.

Can anyone recognize what might be going on here?

Signed,
Eternally Grateful

Use Pronterface and try to calibrate PID values
A10M Slic3r profile: here and fresh on github (lot of tips here)
A10 Slic3r profile: here
TIP: tight all screws and wheels (except right side of Z axis) and re-align frame while assembly. And silence it.

I can't. With a thermistor plugged in when I turn the machine on I'm immediately halted by the error screen. I can use a terminal program if i start it without a thermistor, but then I'm not able to do anything with the extruder PID calibrations.

Note: Bed temp readings and PID calibration work fine.
