Badly Cut Acrylic

Post by Foo42 » Tue Apr 30, 2019 7:09 pm

I've been assembling my prusa i3 pro b and found that the frame was getting pulled off square. When I looked at what was causing it I discovered that the "acrylic left frame" and "acrylic right frame (parts A2 & A3) were badly cut so that the edge was not square with the face of the panels, but cut at an angle. Or to put it another way, when you look at the panel edge on, the cut side is not a nice straight line from the front of the panel to the back, but is slanted, as if it had been cut at an angle.

This means that when it is tightened against the XZ frame (part A1) it pulls to the side and pulls the whole Y axis assembly out of line too when this is attached.

Closeup of the edge of the panel shown against a square (blue lego board). Note the increasing gap towards the top face:

Top down view of frame with piece fitted showing how parts failed to make a square (due to bad edge):

Top down view of attempting to fit xy axis to frame leaves gap (see bottom right) as A2 and A3 are not square against A1:

If the pieces are forced together then the xy axis does not sit square with the rest of the frame which result in skewed prints.

It was purchased on Amazon. Surely the problem is with the manufacture rather than the amazon seller though? Can Geeetech not send me replacement parts? I'd rather not have to dismantle it all and return it.

As in ask Geeetech? Is there a recommended way to contact them? I was under the impression the forum was the recommended way to do it. Sorry, new to all this.
