Suddenly stopped printing

Post by lexis200 » Sat Apr 27, 2019 12:15 am

Hi all,

After many successful prints, my printer has stopped working. Previously I would stick in the SD card with the gcode file on it, navigate to the file screen, pick the file and hit PRINT. The system would heat up to the required temperatures, then start printing. Simple!

Now, it does everything up to me hitting PRINT. The nozzle and bed only heat up if I press the nozzle or bed setting icon, (both of these are now turned off by default) and turn them on. They both heat up but the print never starts. Cancelling the print sometimes makes the print head move up and down a bit but that's it. If I leave it without cancelling the print, the nozzle and bed stay hot until I cancel but the nozzle doesn't move at all.

Some answers to likely questions...

I'm using a gcode file I've used in the past that I know worked.
I've not made any changes that I know of to the settings.
I've not update the firmware from what came in the box which was the latest at the time (V1.35.56, hardware V2.1-null).
I've tried a new gcode file, and another older file that used to work.
I've tried a different SD card.
I've definitely tried turning it off and on again, multiple times.
I've hit the Factory Reset icon and reset the control box which beeps and restarts.
There is plenty of PLA and it's fed through the sensor.
Fans all seem to work.
The head can be moved around using the Move icon, so the motors all work OK.
I've searched the forum but couldn't find anything similar to my issue.l

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Particularly as to why the nozzle and bed now seem to be set to manual so they don't auto heat up anymore?

Thanks
Dave

Hi William, I don't really know what else to add. I can't do a video, but the below is a step by step sequence of what used to happen versus what happens now, hope it makes sense.

This is what I USED to do:

put in SD card with gcode file
Press PRINT, then pick file I want to print, then press PRINT again.

The A30 would heat up the nozzle and bed to 220 deg and 60 deg respectively (as noted in the gcode from the slicer program (Slicer Prusa edition 1.41.2+win64) then start printing.

*********************

This is what happens NOW:

put in SD card with gcode file
Press PRINT, then pick file I want to print, then press PRINT again.

Nothing happens.

Click on the nozzle or bed icons and see that the flip switches are both off, speed is on at 100%.

Flip nozzle and bed switches to on. Both heat up to 200 deg and 50 deg (despite gcode saying higher). Print head doesn't move at all. Leave for 2 hours, same thing.

Change the temps up to 220 and 60 deg. Both change, then maintain the temperature, but again no printing.

That's it really. The only thing I can guess at is that it's seeing the gcode file, but not reading it properly, so here's a snippet of one that I know used to work, but now doesn't... maybe that will help you?

Hi, did you try to even if the computer can automatically print and print
if it is not a problem with the motherboard, maybe about SD read question?

Hello.

lexis200, in your situation, I'd try two things. ;)
First, heat the heaters to the required temperature using the printer menu option. Verify the temperature reached with an external measurement.
Another thing, did you try to run the printout from a computer connected to the printer :?:
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.
Geeetech Prusa I3 M201 Dual extruder Mixcolor 3D printer, bought 2017-12-19, already built, in the cognitive and improvement phase
Geeetech filament, ABS only
Geeetech 3D WiFi Module for 3D Printer, bought 2018-04-15, He got a new life, and still lies in a drawer.
Positively frenzied customer of Getech Technology.
