Extruder leaking and not extruding

Post by Tubercule » Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:04 am

My extruder is retarded. (I probably also am...)
When on stand by, with the nozzle at 190°C, plastic leaks out of the nozzle. https://ibb.co/ZTR33c3
When printing, the plastic just seems to come out in the same way that it is when not printing (it seems that the extruder is not extruding but rather letting plastic out, at all times...)

I plugged the extruder motor to the x axis to see if it was broken but when moving the x axis, the extruder extruded just fine (but still leaking after the extrusion)

to sum up:
-the extruder doesn't extrude
-the extruder leaks

If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

I've checked your pic.
It seems the filament out because of the gravity.
It is normal and I didn't saw the hotend leaking the filament.

Hello.

Tell us all whether, after heating the head, you tried to drive the filament feeding manually from the slicer :?:

This is an important test because then you can observe the reaction of the feeding mechanism.
It is also worth to calibrate the extruder and check the settings in your Slicer. What is the set diameter of the filament?
;)

I tried. The filament went strait through the head with little to no resistance.

I'm using 1.75 mm PLA

I have no idea how to do that...

PS: I can't even extrude properly using the "move axis" thingy. When I go to move axis > extruder and set it to a higher value, the extruder should extrude but doesn't do anything. (I vibrates a tiny bit though)

OK.
;)

I was referring to whether you tried to start the extruder manually via the control panel.

I also asked if the filament parameters (diameter) set in Slicer are correct.

Calibration of the extruder can be carried out easily.
For example:
  • from the entrance of the foundation to the extruder you measure a distance of 10cm.
  • warm up the head and use the control panel to feed a section of 10 cm.
  • check on the filament whether the marked section has been correctly taken to the extruder.

So, I found out the problem was that the extruder gear wasn't moving the filament. I took the head apart and there was a bunch of plastic bits stuck in it. I removed them and now my thing can print.
The print quality is terrible though...I'll have to keep working on the calibration and stuff...
Thanks for the help
