Is My A10m Board Fried??

Post by KendoMcCaff » Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:10 pm

Hello everyone.
Hope you can guide me. I have an a10m runnin marlin 1.1.8. i've made no changes.
I had a successful print, allowed cooldown and turned off. When i turned back on my heat bed an hot end are ready maximum temperatures.
350/0 for the hot end 84/0 for the bed. I have read the forums regarding a max temperature error which i do not have. Mine reads a10m ready at the bottom. I have removed thermistor and unplugged everything nothing changes the hot end and bed readings from what i've mentioned. checked wiring for breakages i have not however removed the board from inside the printer yet to run a multimeter i was hoping before i do this you could be able to tell me whether or not the board is dead and i need a new one.

I was running the hot end at 210 bed at 65 using binder clips also. My bed was very warped when i received it and i've managed to get it somewhat straight but require a clip at the top left hand corner where the soldered points are attached to the heat bed. i'm thinking this is possibly where i got my problems. as its took me a long time to get the aluminium bed to the point of printing i like to remove the glass bed before removing my prints to avoid knocking it out of level. im thinkin possibly the binder clips metal part has touched it?

any advice welcomed. thank you very much.

while researching my problem i came across a post on this forum https://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17030 .
i don't seem to have exactly the same problems but it looks like a very good problem solving solution that you may be able to follow. Unfortunately i cannot recreate the values that they have leading me to think that there is something blown in the main board but hopefuly this can help you out with your problem.

hopefully you can get it going again. i've read your last comment again and realised that even though the temps are different the problems are probably going to be the same. please post back your results from the supplier so i can end my own head aches!!!!

hello kaktus.

currently waiting for supplies. i have ordered a 100kohms thermistor for the bed as i have replaced the hot end with a brand new one so there can be no faults there. i am going to try flashing to verts 1.1.9 tonight to see if it can change anything but i am not holding up much hope. Very frustrated not knowing what could have caused the motherboard to break like this. Printer is only 6 weeks old or so and done 2 prints very frustrating. so check list as follows....
tonight - try and flash 1.1.9
when thermistor arrives - solder to the bed and try.
failing this surely it has to be a motherboard issue and at £40 i could cry haha

so basically i removed all cables from the motherboard except from lcd display and nothing change. i was expecting 0/0 0/0 but was still met with 350/0 84/0. i cannot change the temperature when this happens but i can moved all my axis around. so definately this heat issue. is it possible you know what component can maybe get replaced instead of the full board?

Hi.

Your case is interesting for me because I haven't met such a case yet.
Of course it doesn't fill me with happiness. :(

Have you tried to restore the factory settings :?:

Not tried to restore factory settings. Updated to 1.1.9 last night with 0 change. thermistor arriving on thursday so thats my last attempt before i blame the board. Casting my mind back i had my last print going pretty fast. I had turned the speed up to around 115 testing the machine out. it was making alot of small movements pretty fast. is it possible that maybe one of the cables as picked up damage with these small fast movements from the hot end? the print turned out pretty well. no under extrusion, a slight layer shift but nothing to cry about. I remeber aswell using slight force to take a warp from the aluminium heat bed also thinkin its possible i've damaged thermister. The problem solving carries on! will keep you updated when parts arrive.

i stop offering Version 1.1.9 a very long time ago currently maintaining V2.0.
I will attempt to update to 2.0 tonight hopefully by the grace of the gods i can get back up and going again. I had only just got it sorted ready for big runs! I've ideas climbing out my ears and nothing to fulfill them!
