I recently got my Geeetech 3d printer recently setup and would like to share my settings as to help anyone who is curious about where to start for their cura profile. There is a few things I would like to note about my setup ahead of time.
1. My printers temperature is off by about 20 degrees. So when it reads 240 I am actually running my temp at 220. You will have to adjust that setting as necessary to accommodate any temp offsets as well as your filament, I currently am running Solutech pure white pla through mine, and using a prusa mk3 0.4mm nozzle and my printers firmware is the marlin 2.0 Beta which can be found here.
2. Play with your profile and see what works for you, any profile isn't a cure all for these or any printer, because there are so many variables. You really do have to tame your individual beast to get it to the peak performance that you need.
All that aside here are my Cura Settings in Detail I first started using a cr-10 profile as my base point since these are really just smaller cr-10's
when you set the printer profile set the build plate to these settings - Build plate - x width (240mm) y depth (240mm) Z Height (260)
Profile -
Quality -
Layer Height - 0.3mm
Initial Layer Height - 0.3mm
Line Width - 0.4mm
Initial Layer Line Width - 115%
Shell -
Wall Thickness - 1.2 mm
Wall Line Count - 3
Top Bottom Thickness - 0.6mm
Top Thickness - 1.2mm
Top Layers - 4mm
Bottom Thickness - 1.2mm
Bottom layers - 4mm
Horizontal Expansion - 0mm
Infill -
Infill Density - 15% (varies by print for whats best)
Infill Pattern - Zig Zag (Varies by print on what works best)
Infill Overlap Percentage - 30%
Infill Overlap - 0.12mm
Material -
Printing Temp - 240 degrees C (All temp settings Vary on hot end offset as well as filament being used)
Initial Printing Temp - 240 degrees C
Final Printing Temp - 225 Degrees C
Build Plate Temp - 60 Degrees C (Again Varies depending on filament and temp offsets that may be present)
Flow - 100%
Initial Flow - 100%
Enable Retraction - Check yes
Retraction Distance - 6.5mm
Retraction Speed - 25mm/s
Retraction Minimum Travel - 5mm
Speed -
Print Speed - 60 mm/s
Infill Speed - 30 mm/s
Wall Speed - 30mm/s
Print Acceleration - 300 mm/s2
Infill Acceleration - 300mm/s2
Travel -
Combing Mode - All
Avoid Printed Parts When Traveling - Check Yes
Z Hop When Retracted - Check Yes
Z Hop Height - 0.5mm
Cooling -
Enable Print Cooling - Check Yes
Fan Speed - 100%
Regular Fan Speed At Height - 0.3mm
Minimum Layer Time - 10s
Support - (If part has overhangs that justify support check yes on generate support)
support placement - Everywhere
support Overhang Angle - 80 Degrees
Support Pattern - Lines
Support Density - 15%
Build Plate Adhesion -
Build Plate Adhesion Type - Skirt
Skirt Line Count - 3
Skirt Distance - 10mm
Now when it comes to the build plate adhesion if you need more adhesion you can use whats called a raft or a brim it can help your print adhere better to the build plate. Although I haven't found it real necessary with the current build plate that comes with the printer.
Again all settings can and should be tweaked to your machine so they work properly and everything can always be improved. If you had made any tweaks that made a difference in your print quality or have any questions feel free to drop em below.
