Power Outage

Post by Cub » Wed Dec 26, 2018 11:51 pm

Hi all,

I‘ve recently purchased the i3 Pro w, and I‘ve assembled it. Everything worked fine as expected.

Now to my problem that happened,
I downloaded EasyPrint3D, i tried to update the firmware but midway through it caused a power outage.

Now everytime I plug in USB and Power Outlet at the same time, it causes a blackout/Power Outage.
However if I only plugin USB to my PC it‘s fine, same if I only plug in the power cord.

I‘ve tried googling, but nothing came up.
So, I was wondering if anyone could help?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. My Z370(PC motherboard) died because of it aswell.

Hello.
:)

It was very unpleasant for you.

In my opinion, the controller plates are damaged. Can you give its model and version :?:
If you feel strong with electronics and have basic equipment we can try to run it quickly.
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.

Ordered a new Z370, hoping the other hardwares are alright. :s

As for the Power Plates, I only know it‘s a GT2560..
I‘m leaving a picture as an attachment, maybe you‘ll know.(hopefully)

Depends on what kind of equipment I‘m needing?
What I‘ve tried so far:
I can connect my wifi module but it doesnt return any value (I have tried all 3 default Baud rates and all gave me rhe same results) and it doesn‘t react to any commands such as moving x axis.

Plugged the 3d printer usb into my 2nd PC, the lcd gets powered on.(Don‘t know what you can really do mich from here on)

I used a random .stl sliced it with slic3r and put it in the SD Card reader. Only plugged in the power cord, and tried printing. It tries to print it but the xyz offsets are off.

I don‘t feel too confident with electronics to be honest..

If it‘s not too complicated I can try.
Thanks for the reply :)

Hi.

Your controller board is GT2560 rev A+.

You have presented the description in detail, it's good.
Unfortunately, the fault does not seem to be light.

No communication via USB, and no control for the stepstick modules can be a sign that the main µC is dead. :(
It's a very nasty fault.

At the moment you can try to connect the printer to the computer, run the terminal program, configure and establish a connection.
After resetting the printer, messages should appear in the terminal.

I suspect that nothing like that will happen.

Suggests that you contact your salesman and tell him about the issue.
The printer is under warranty so I expect the controller board to be replaced with a new one.
;)

Here
you will find a schematic diagram for your controller board.

It is a pity that your computer has also been damaged.

I did try to connect it to to PC, but sadly after this incident it doesn‘t show the COM port anymore. Tried googling for this problem, found a few solutions which I‘ve tried but with no success sadly. :(

I‘ll message the salesman and hopefully this will be resolved. I‘ll post an update as things progress.

Thanks for the help! :)

Hello there, I‘ve finally received my new Rev A+!
I wired everything up and gave it a shot but the same issue is still remaining sadly & at this point I don‘t know what to do?

I‘m still unable to plug in both USB and Power Cable at the same.. Please someone help. :(

Edit: I can see the COM port now, which I wasn‘t able to previously. Please let me know what I can test!

Hi.

What does it manifest itself in. Do you notice any problems :?:

The more you write what you see, I have a better idea of your situation.

I made a video explaining the problem.

I honestly don‘t know what could be wrong though..
The only thing I‘ve done so far is to succesfully install the prusa i3 pro w firmware.

When you connected a USB communication cable to a working printer, the light went out.
Does this mean that the fuse in your electrical installation has tripped :?:
