Check your v-wheels

Post by AFewSkroosLoose » Wed Sep 12, 2018 12:23 am

This is info to maybe help others.

I had problem with y-axis 'catching' in a few spots as it rolled back and forth. The catch seemed to be in time with the rolling diameter of a v-wheel. I did a test to find the bad one - use two at a time and mount in the smaller non-eccentric holes in bed mount plate. Push plate against groove in extrusion and slide back and forth keeping it steady and aligned with some pressure. I felt the catch and using this method found the bad bearing that must have had a flat spot. I used two good bearings in the solid mount holes, and the one good bearing left in the eccentric mount between the other two. Feels plenty stable when tightened properly and the 'catch' is gone.

If any axis exhibits the stuttering or catching, it could be a bad v-wheel.

You are correct.
If the V-wheels broken the movement of Y axis will abnormal.
:D

I've had a similar problem since I got the A10M. It's not the bearings though, it's the wheels. They seem to be like memory foam and leaving them in one place for any length of time makes a flat spot where they sit. I have tested this by moving it off it's spot and feeling the bind where it has been sitting, then holding the wheel while moving it along, and repeating this with 3 other wheels to push the flat spots all out of sync with each other and mitigate the effects of the flat spots on the wheels. This works until it is left alone for a few hours and the soft plastic wheels develop new flat spots. The tension isn't that tight as I can hold the wheels while moving the Y axis, so I am at a loss as to what to do about this problem other than keep resetting the flat spots each time.
I'm surprised that more comments haven't been made on this poor design.

One of my table wheels was not touching the guide rail. so I adjusted it some so now all 4 wheels roll. I Still have my prints Constantly shifting off in the "Y+" direction . Not the "Y-" direction. And the slightest extra drag will knock the print off postion. I have ordered the stronger SKU 700-001-0283,,,42SHD3418-24B20 to see if that will help.

Mine are all gripping okay, just seems like cheap rubber that's used for the wheels. I tried easing them off but same problem. Wherever the bed sits, the wheels get flat spots as if they have a flat tire, but the bulge stays where it is. I get no layer shifting at all if I run at a mild speed with travel at 120mm/s.
Sounds like you have different problems to me.

I had the same problem with my A30. I think the wheels must be super cheap. I ended up replacing all the wheels on my X and Y carriage with these: BIQU V-Slot Wheels now everything slides smooth.
