Issue of Layer with large Items

Post by Lothar » Wed Sep 26, 2018 7:17 pm

Hi I bought a Prosa I3 Pro b.
With gt2560 A+ Board.
I installed a 3d touch ID sensor and also a firmware I found already prepared in this forum.

Pinting small pieces I've no ossue on it but when I print large piece like this:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1762997

I obtain a shifting layer. See the photo.
I checked the vref (0.85) for all drivers.
I calibrate care my print.
The result is the same
Please could you help me?

Hi

I have two questions.
  1. Is the toothed belt properly tensioned.
  2. Is the mechanism moves smoothly and easily head.
It seems to me that steps are lost during printing.
;)
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.

Isn't the printer head getting "stuck" in the prints... is the Z extruder steps (steps per axis) correct? (It should be around 400.)
Or maybe the temperature?

Can you "catch" the moment it gets stuck?

Finally I solved the issue.
I unmounted the entire X axis and re-muont again...now it is perfect.
Thanks for the support.

The print looks like it's moving off in the X- direction. You say the belts are properly tensioned, can you manually move the carriage along the X Axis or does it feel stiff? The belt shouldn't be too tight or you may stall the drive motor which would cause your problem. Wipe the straight rods with an oiled cloth and ensure there's no binding which would also stall the motor.
The X and Y motors run open loop, that is, there's no measurement system to feed back their position to correct any errors, if the motor stalls, the printer doesn't know about it. You get a layer shift.
(Closed loop printers end up with other problems like ringing on 90 degree angles as they over correct! I've been there way back in the 1970s!)

Simplify 3D have an excellent print trouble shooting website here. Check it out! https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... salignment

Play Bonny!
