Today, new firmware is available for the 3D WiFi module - v1.02.009.
They can be downloaded together with manual from -> www.geeetech.com/firmware/

Newer generation modules are subject to updating with the method described in the manual.

How to check if my module belongs to this group?

First 6 number of SN means date of manufact. New batch begin from 23 June e.g.1806233DWFXXXXY.
If your module meets this requirement, you can proceed with the firmware update described in the manual.

There are currently two versions of the manual available.

• One in English, it can be downloaded from the product presentation website.

• Another in Chinese, available on the FTP server along with binary files.

The two instructions are consistent. This one on the FTP server additionally contains more detailed information.

Can older modules (manufactured before 20180623) also be upgraded with new firmware ?

I am in the process of testing such an update of an older model with one of the Geeetech engineers.
The whole operation is quite complex due to the modular structure of the electronic system and requires a lot of skills.


I can express my opinion at the end of the update attempt.

If the Company agrees, in the second place, we may prepare appropriate instructions.
For the time being, you have to be patient.

Today the trial firmware update has been completed.
Older version of the module got a new life.

At the moment, as I mentioned earlier, the whole operation is a bit troublesome.

Together with the lead engineer we have to gather conclusions and consult.

There is one more idea to test for simplifying the procedure.

The device is built on "a sandwich" and each µC requires an update of its software. Hence the cumbersome procedure.
I can also say that in the new version of the software the firmware update procedure has been very well developed and is user-friendly.

In the next few days we will prepare a manual for migration from the old firmware version to the new one.

That does sound like awesome news, I only got mine a few months back, but seems I missed out and was sent the Older models.

My SN is like this (1801313DWF*****) So, I'm sure many of us do appreciate all the work you and your colleagues are doing to make this happen.
