How to replace y-axis holder and bearings

Post by matt_ch » Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:50 am

Hello everyone

Recently i discovered a small crack in the y-axis (left-right) holder as you can see in the picture below (attachment). Also the bearings (x and y axis) are off any tolerances (at least 0.2 to 0.3mm - i would expect less than 0.02 - you can hear it rattle while printing).

Now there are a few questions.. does someone know where to get/buy a y-axis holder ? The only thing i could find yet is this one on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2650504

But i would prefer a original spare part.

Second point: Does someone have any suggestions how to disassemble the rods from y-axis to change holder and bearings ? Since i cant see any screw it seems the rods are either pressed or glued into the holder ?

Some hints where to find LM8SUU-Bearings 8x15x17mm (inner d, outer d, length) or similar would also be very appreciated. There are lots of offers for very cheap (like half a dollar per piece) ones, but mostly unbranded - maybe also inferior manufactored/rejected goods disposed over ebay & co. Someone knows a good, trusty source ?
