GT2560 Short circuit

Post by Kutulu » Tue May 01, 2018 8:50 pm

hi everyone, a while ago i had a short circuit on the fan port of my GT2560 Rev A.
Now everything actually works but there was some smoke and light coming out of the board.
I´ve attached a picture, can someone tell me which component got broken here?

It is this smoked part, the one with the crater after the explosion.
You can successfully unsolder it. The printer will work just as well without it...
You can also unsolder the jumper near this broken transistor.
Accidental short-circuiting can damage the 12V stabilizer, which is visible in your picture. That is the bigger element.

It was a p-mosfet transistor in my printer,
On the attached photograph this part of the circuit looks similar.

To be sure, you can analyze the electrical connections.
Check that the source and drain are connected to the input and output of the 12VDC stabilizer.
If so, you can throw the transistor away. :-D

I would say it's the part that looks brown and burnt just next to the 2 pin connector
