ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
while i was in the middle of printing my screen went like this
https://i.imgur.com/Wc6yADQ.jpg
i have tried turning off and on, still the same
ive tried swapping the cable round, still the same
i even swapped the LCD cable with the SD cable, still the same
and i have tried uploading firmware (through easy print) still the same.
is my LCD screen broke? ,its hard to print without it!

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
1.Upload the firmware again
2.Check the wiring of LCD
3.You need contact the sales at first and them can help you

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
if you had read the original post, you would see i have already tried all of those.
ive even tried tech support and got the same reply( nobody seems to read my post)
1.ive reuploaded the firmware more than once
2.ive swapped the SD cable over with the LCD cable, didnt work
3. turned the cable, round as in, i unplugged it and the connector that was in the lcd is now in the control board and the connector in the control board is now in the lcd. still dosnt work.
and again it went like this in the middle of a print. it was ok at the start of the print but by about half way into it my LCD showed all them blocks and now they wont leave!

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
In my opinion, this is a problem with the initialization of the display.
Please notice that two lines of 8 characters work correctly.
Either an incompatible LCD or some software error occurred.
Have you tried to upload a different version of the firmware?

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
Thanx kaktus,
No I haven't tried an older firmware, not sure how to get one for the pro w, or do you mean try the pro b or a firmware?
Can't understand why it would do that halfway into a print and stay like that if its software issue
Could it be this eeprom? thing? Not quite sure what that is, I assume its some memory for settings? Can I clear that somehow?

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
I was using cura 3.2.1? I think it is (latest version) at the time, and was printing the wind turbine thing.
I doubt if this helps any but you never know.

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
I can not help you in choosing the software.
I do not know this printer.
If this effect occurred during printing, it may be a firmware error. Stack overflow, and overwrite memory reserved for the display.
This is a complex problem.
It is worth trying other versions of the firmware.
But it can also be a distortion in the transmission of data in the LCD.
I observed a similar phenomenon on my printer - M201, during printing.
Interestingly, the printer continued to work properly. And the display showed nonsense.
clicking the encoder did not take the result either. It was not until the hard reset after printing that it restored the normal state.
I will analyze this in the future.
If the effect from your photo is reached right after the printer is turned on, it is a clear error of the firmware.
That's my opinion.

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
thanx kaktus,
i tried an older firmware from the forum with arduino, still the same thing
i managed to configure the marlin 1.1.8 to work with the pro w along with the manual mesh bed leveling. (i think bed leveling is working, not fine tuned it yet but it seems the first layer is more even) but the screen was still the same so i brought a new one. straight swap and its working fine.
one very small issue is that sometimes the FR (feed rate?) symbol dosnt display correctly or the degrees symbol next to temp has a small "m" not a "0" other than that its working now.
also i did try the old one again after new one was working and it had the blocks again so i can only assume is a prob with the actual LCD.

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
I am glad that you have solved the problem.
The original display can also have a different type of controller on the board.
I will not talk about it because it will not change anything.
It's nice that everything works.
Those characters that are incorrectly displayed are probably defined in the code.
As you know what's going on, look at the content of the code.
I greet you warmly and wish you perseverance in getting to know the printer. ;-)

Re: ProW LCD2004 screen blocks
I had something similar happen on my Pro B. All I did was to press the LCD select knob and the screen returned to normal. I then fitted a noise suppression mains plug to the printer and it's been fine since.
