Prusa I3 M201
Prusa I3 M201
Tried to update to new firmware and now the LCD is blank and the printer is not working. When I try to connect, I get the message 'jump app fail!' How can I restore to old firmware?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Prusa I3 M201
I guess you have the board with the STM32 processor...
(if not than the following is irrelevant)
Have you flashed the correct firmware for your board?
GTM32 REV A vs GTM32 REV B vs GTM32 PRO
Do you use the USB-port to flash your firmware or an ST-Link as programmer?
Have you seen the forum entrys:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=18167
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=17597
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=17173
Did you change your display or is it the retail one?
Try to reflash your firmware with USB first, if this isn't working anymore I guess you killed the firmware (which probably includes the USB communication). STM32 without firmware are "dumb" so they wont accept updates via USB. If your firmware died I guess you need an ST-Link as an In-system-programmer.
If you don't have an ST-Link, you can get one really cheap... (around 3$)
(for example at
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ST-Link-V2-Prog ... SwZVlXiICF)
I'm not working for Geeetech and only have some knowledge of stm32 because I experimented with a dev board.
I can't guarante for success for any of the steps mentioned, this post should be only regarded as "informative"...
...please do some web research on your own.

Re: Prusa I3 M201
Thank you for replying! It is GTM32 Pro VB, and I had tried to update using the method described in the first link you provided. Now, when I try to connect to the printer it gives me 'JumpToApp0 jump app fail!' and will not connect.appswert wrote:I guess you have the board with the STM32 processor...

The display was not changed.
I will explore the other two posts and see if they will work. I have seen those forum entries, however I am not experienced and am unsure of how to use the ST-link (or, where it connects to the board).
Re: Prusa I3 M201
Hi,I suggest you to upgrade the firmware with EasyPrint 3D.
Here is the download link:
http://www.geeetech.net/firmware/EasyPrint.msi.
And here is the instructional video you can refer to

Hello htp
I don't know if EasyPrint can flash the firmware without a working USB-connection.
But it might be worth a try...
If it doesn't work I think you don't have any other choise that an ST-Link...
This forum entry descibes how to connect the ST-Link to the GTM32 board
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=17173
(scroll down a bit to heading "3)" )
It's like a bit like I2C but incompatible with it:
You need a clock signal (SWCLK), An common ground (GND), and a bidirectional data line (SWDIO). As well as supplyvoltage (5V) of course (although the chip itself runs of 3.3V but i think they will route it through an voltage regulator).
I don't know if you should disconnect the powersupply or at least power it off, while attemting to write the new firmware.
Maybe someone from Geeetech can give you this information. (Because why should you connect 5V from the programmer if you already have power on your board?).
ST provides loads of documentation of their products:
ST-Link: http://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/pro ... nk-v2.html
STM32 F1XXX http://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/pro ... tId=SS1031 (I don't know which one is used with GTM32 take a look on your board)
Hope you can fix your board

Re: Prusa I3 M201
I have fixed my board and also updated the firmware. It seems that I still had USB connection, so when I used the GTM32 Pro method again it worked. Silly problem on my part!
Thank you, appswert and William, for helping me
