Installed 3 pins for bed leveling sensor, board dead
Hello,
I soldered on 3 pins to my GT2560 board to add the geeetech bed leveling sensor just like the guide says. When I tried to plug it in and use it, only the 2 green power lights come on and the board gets really hot. The only thing that works is the fan. Any idea what I shorted out? I just removed the max z stop plug and put pins in its place.
Thanks.

Hello,
have you checked if your card is the GT2560 or GT2560 A +. the difference is that in A + is already the connector for the sensor separately from the other connectors. if you've connected the wrong one could cause problems as you say.

Mine is the old style, it doesn't have the sensor pins. I will be ordering a new board.

Did you solder the 3-pin connector in the place of Z_max as the manual describes?

I did, it looks like I grounded the signal connector out, now it is burned up.

Sorry to heat that...

Just in case anyone else has similar issues I got around the need to solder when installing my 3d touch.
It turns out that if you don't need the 5th stepper you can steal 5v from it's socket.
I describe it here: http://antony-jordan.co.uk/3d-touch-tut ... tml#wiring
The bottom two pounds on the socket to the right provide ground (bottom) and 5v. The cabling might not be as neat but there is no longer any need to risk soldering.
Hope this prevents your issue for others in the future.
