Dear all. Sorry about not logging in for some time. Hope the following provides some answers.

Napalm. The design of the extrusion feeder without a tension/compression adjusting screw is flawed. The lever arm that provides compression is travel limited. You could a truck spring (metaphorically) as the tensioner and it would make no difference. Get a new feeder with adjustable tension.

ValiMDX. I normally use PLA. I have recently been using ABS to print some stuff for use in the garden - PLA will not work in that environment. Apart from numerous attempts to get the ABS to stick to the plate, I had no real problems (kaptan tape is really good for ABS adhesion).

Trikky73. Good move.

NiklasO. Standard configuration is the short version. Use the long version if changed to bowden feeder.

As for my particular issues, the Z axis is still an issue, even with T8 screws. My purpose now is to build a new 3D printer, using various parts from the I3 and a bunch of new stuff. It will have a printable range of approx 400 x 400 x 400. Uses linear bearings and ballscrew drives. The print bed will be fixed, as in all movement will be with the extruder. Will be posting pics, etc to thingverse when the design is complete and it is built and working. Having fun doing this.

@Palad0n . It seems that my Issue was solved by changing the feeder to the aluminium one.
i can print and it seems it's going perfectly. Besides some occasionally skipping steps. but i guess that's because of the filament roll and not having enough for to push it.
I'm using http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1541374 to hold the filament spools.

Probably Geeetech should include this in the box ( or at least mention it that it some cases the upgrade might be required)

Thank you for your help.

Agreed that they should be including the aluminium filament feed assembly for the extruder
Mine has been going faultlessly since upgrading it to the aluminium one
should also come with the anti wobble upgrade as standard

just my 2c on this :D
