frimeware change

Post by lior@motiontech.co.il » Sun Aug 28, 2016 2:52 pm

Dear support

I bougth prusa i3 M201 with mixer head and i was unhappy with the hot head , so i replaced it with MK8 extruder.
now i alot of feachers that i dont need like mixing, so i want to change the frimeware to a version that support my new hot head.

can you please direct me to the rigth version?

the new hot head gets hot much faster than the older one and it takes it more time to stablize with big overshoot , for example if i set it to 200 C first it will get to 260 C and than it will cool down to 190C and than heat up to 220C and so on till it stablize .

can frimeware upgrade fix this problem ?
can i change the controller settings myself ?
can i change the PID parameters ?

Best regards ,
lior

Hi,Lior
The firmware for M201 supports MK8.
But i wanna know, did your heater come with your new MK8 or you used the heater of 2-in-1-out hotend.
Let me put it this way,the rated voltage of M201's heater should be 24V while MK8's heater is 12V as far as i know.

Dear support

I replaced the heater because i wasnt happy with it.
Can i do something from the controller board side , with frimeware or with the slicer to make the heater more stable ?

Without changing the hardware again ?

Hi,Lior
Nope,I'm afraid you can't use the heater comes with MK8.
I mean you can uninstall the heater from the M201 extruder then install it on MK8.Have you threw away the M201 extruder already?
If you have threw it,sorry to tell you that you have to buy a heater for 24V,cuz the PSU's DC output is 24V...
