Rostock 301 extruders not working

Post by Ieesha » Fri Aug 26, 2016 4:11 pm

I have a Rostock 301. It has been completely assembled, but the extruder motors on 2 of the 3 extruders are not working.
I have tested the motors and wiring and the problem appears to be the actual motor on each, the motor makes a sound but the shaft will not move as it is supposed to.
I have requested a replacement but have been told I can not without posting on here and technical advising this is a terminal problem, I have already had issues that one of the stepper motors does not work and screws required also missing. Getting very fed up of the problems, can anyone advise what else I can do re: the motors on the extruders which do not work.

Hi,
What you exactly mean "but the shaft will not move as it is supposed to"?You mean the 2 of them didn't have filament coming out?And did you plug filament into it?If you did,
1.unplug the filament and heating up the extruder to the melting/preset temp.

2.Take down the fans on the extruder motors, then "Prepare->Move Axis->E0/E1/E2" to test the movements of the 3 extruder motors,a video about your testing would be appreciated.

About the motor vibrates,it maybe the driver module A4988 has a problem, like it didn't have sufficient voltage.Check the following tips plz,of course you can skip the step checking the direction of A4988,it must be right:

Tried all of the suggested 1 of the 3 works, but the other 2 still are not.
We have tried them with filament and without we have tried all the suggestions still the other 2 extruders will not work, it is as if the shaft is jammed and will not rotate.
Can you please send 2 replacements extruders.

We have tried everything you have suggested and the extruder motors are dead for 2 of the extruders.
Please forward replacement motors as soon as possible as this is required for a school project.

We have taken it to a 3D print specialist who has also tested it.
They have advised the plugs and cabling were loose and not connecting they have redone the wiring to the plug harnesses and we have life,in all 3 extruders now.
However the print head keeps the heated and we are unable to ascertain why or solve the problem help please!
