Rostock 301 Failure
Rostock 301 Failure
The kit went together nicely, the front controls work as expected, the manual control of the axis work as expected BUT.
When I begin a print, the extruder moves to the plate, begins its trace but then lifts off several millimeters then as it continues the plot it simply moves up and down while doing what appears to be the expected patterns. I slowed the trace down with the font control knob, as it began to lift off I pressed down on the Z arm which returned it to the surface but would fail a short time later. It clearly is working on the first layer of the print but will not stay next to the plate.

I wanna know if it can print an object on the condition you didn't operate the LCD controller during the printing? And how did you exactly mean by saying the words "will not stay next to the plate" ?Would you mind attaching a video to show me more details about your issue?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rostock 301 Failure
I had taken the time to determine the X motor is failing. I swapped the driver circuit board on the controller and the X motor still will not lift to the home switches. I am waiting for new motors I ordered, it will take too long to wait for your replacements. The power supply failed right out of the box and that too I ordered from Amazon with 2 day free shipping. Clearly, if a stepper motor misses a step, or more, then the extruder will not track parallel with the heated plate, which is what I am saying. I will not be able to look at the system until later in the week.

Re: Rostock 301 Failure
It appears I have control of Z, Y and Z. I have been trying to get a smooth steady stream out of the three filament extruder. No luck at all. I was careful to insert the white Teflon tube with a filament just to the end. While still cool I pressed the filament further on all three, seemed ok. Heated up for PLA used the manual control 1mm at a time for each expecting to see a nice stream 0.4mm wide, never happened. The end of one or more of the filaments would stick I would pull it out, or try to, and either stuck or otherwise deformed. I have had to take the extruder apart and over heat it with a torch, blow air through the tip and then confirm I can see through to the hole in the tip from the top three inlets. The problem appear to be that when one of the filament is pushing it backs up one or both of the other filaments then cools and makes it stick.
Re: Rostock 301 Failure
What would be the correct gCode to run all three extruders, at the same time, 33% on each at some rate to provide a smooth 0.4mm stream of 1.75mm PLA filament? I would like the extruder to simply remain 100mm from the surface and make no X or Y motion.

Run all three extruders,33% on each at the same time...Actually,I don't think that will work with G-code on this printer BUT on LCD.mcandrle wrote:What would be the correct gCode to run all three extruders, at the same time, 33% on each at some rate to provide a smooth 0.4mm stream of 1.75mm PLA filament? Re: Rostock 301 Failure
I had slowed the rate way down thinking the motor's might not keep up, too much friction or something. That did not help at all. There is a 20mm cube test print that I tried, 30 min to print it, I slowed it down to 1.5 hours and still had the same problems. (see attached photo)

Re: Rostock 301 Failure
After the step losing,it appears layer misalignment?Right? Some tips:
1. You can check if the corresponding timing belt is too tight or too loose.
2. You said you've slow down the rate?To what value?Try 15/20mm/s to see if it makes a difference.
