I3 Pro C - Calibration problem

Post by lezabour » Tue Jul 26, 2016 4:24 am

Hi,

I finished to build my prusa i3 pro C, dual extruder, but i have severals problems

First and most important, is , i think, a calibration problem.
When i use the software Repeater-Host, and put axes into Home Position, i have 2 problems:
- Z axies try to go down to much, touch the bed, and almost break the glass. I have to do an emergency stop to avoid that. I also cause a lot of noise, because of motors beeing block
- X axies goes to much on the right (the side withtout the "end break sensor") So it tries to go a lot on the right, which cause it to block, and motor to make an awfull noise...

I tryed to change to positions of the Home Axies in the software repeater, it doesn't work or change anything. S
ame thing when try to change the printing dimensions, nothing change ;(

If anyone have an idea how to fix those problems

Thanks

Hi,
1.Z axis-Have you level the heatbed?According to what you said,i think the heatbed is too high, you should adjust it by the 4 wing nuts beneath the bed.
2.X axis-You mean the X axis went to right when you "Auto Home"??Did the X-axis have a wrong direction? It should be on the left when you home...
If all of above don't solve your problem, attach a video plz.
Regards

Hi

Thanks for your answer.

1) For the Z-Axies, here is a picture. Like asked, i have change the level on the bed by hte 4 wings nuts benath the bed. Now the extruders are not touching it anymore!! Good!! BUT it not solved yet. Like you can see in picture, the extruders are at the max bottom level, the end stop is "active", but the motors are still trying to go more down, which caused an awfull noise.
I have put 2 pictures so you can see.
Question: how fare the extruders must be from the bed? How many mm/cm?

2) For the X acies, yet it goes on the wrong side ;( How can i change the side? I have tryed to "reverse the x axies" on the repeatier software, but it doesn't change where the X axies goes home. (still going right instead of left). How do i change that?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
1)In my opinion, you can adjust the two objects(the trigger and the couplings) to go up a little. Then the next step is to check the connection of Z-min(the trigger),i guess it is not triggered successfully..

2)About changing the wrong direction of X motor, you can modify it in the firmware, the following article would help you:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 17&t=17037
And you can download the corresponding firmware in the following link:

Thanks for your answer.

I downloaded the firmware, i have change the INVERT_X. Now it's OK, it goes on the right side, like it should!

For the other problem, Z axies, nothing work. I have put in higher, in several position, it always goes the same way.
I have put you a video of the end of the HOME position for Z AXIES, so you can see....
Here is the download link for the video
https://we.tl/jsb77pvT5E

If you can't read video, please suggest me a website where i can upload it for you (since youtube doesn't work)

Please tell me what i do wrong, or what i need to do

thanks

I think it's because your z axis endstop is not detected by the board, you can check your endstop according to the link:

Yes!! this was it!!
I have inverted the Z and Y end stop on the board!!
Thanks for help

Did you manage to see the video i sent you? If not, can you tell me how to send you a video? Cause on it, you can see the noise that make the Z axies while moving (not when block, but when regularely moving)
I think it need lubricant, or their is a problem with the positions of motors and rodes axes

let me know

thanks again for help

Here's a post about the z axis issues, you can check it:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 22&t=16917
You need to make sure the hole at the top is not so tight for thread rod.
The rod is installed well in the coupling.
The rod itself is all right without any broken threads

Here's the experience from an client about adjusting z axis, maybe it's helpful to you.
making the whole on top for the threaded rod did at least make the motors start to turn, a little bit.
2. I had set the threaded rod all the way into the coupling, given that the rods are not perfectly straight, this prevented the motors from turning. I raised the rods and then manually lowered the rod outside of the coupling till it was level with the first grooved line on the coupling I put tape on the threaded rod to mark how far down I wanted it to go into the coupling, raised the rod and threaded it down to the level of the tape and tightened the rod in place. I did this to both side. This allowed the motor to turn even more.
3. The rods still seemed too tight and the z-axis movement did not move freely like the x or y axis. It seemed like there way too much sideways pressure on the rods. Then I realize that the only thing keeping the rods tight was the locking ring on the bars for the extruder carriage. I loosen them up and everything “SNAPPED” in place. Now the –axis goes all the way up and all the way down.

Hi,

Thanks again for your help
It seams OK now, except a little noise so i need to add lubricant

I have others problem now that i tryed to print ;)

I have tryed to print, and nothing goes out of the printer. I put in place the ABS, heating the extruder and bed.

I tryed to print a bed calibration file (from thingiverse), and any other file, but nothing goes out of the printer.

Both extruder have ABS

thanks
