First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is working
First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is working
Hi All,
Just finished assembling my printer and I am obviously a complete novice.
I have been struggling with a few things and I wonder if I could ask for some tips.
1. I am struggling aligning the Z axis 0 point, for some reason the print always starts about a mm in the air. not sure how to solve that
2. my heat bed seems to be struggling in heating above 60c, the sample PLA that was given with the printer was ok at 50c, but i bought ABS that wants 100, and im not sure if its normal to wait for ever for the heatbed to get hot.
3. when i home my printer, the printer goes to the right side of X where there is no limit switch and gets to the end and makes a terrible noise.
4. when i home my printer, the printer goes all the way to the back on Y where there IS a limit switch, but still makes a terrible noise an tries to continue..
If there is anything I need to do with Arduino, ill need detailed help, i am clueless in this and i truly appreciate everyone's help!
Barry.

Re: First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is work
for 1 and 3, check the user manual, it will tell you how to solve it;
And for 2, check the resistance of the heat bed according to this link:

for 4, the endstop might be wronly connected, you can check it.

Re: First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is work
thanks Mark.
fixed #1
fixed #3
fixed #4
on #2 - I still need to work on the heatbed. not sure how to tune it and i have no electricity experience.
Another problem that I have is that sometimes the X axis gets stuck, i think it may be the pulley or something. and then there is an offset of a few milimiters in the -X direction. im not sure if anyone encountered that and what to do to remedy this.

Re: First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is work
#2, do you have a multimeter? Just need to check the resistance of the heatbed and the output of your PSU , see if they're proper.
And also the X axis, if you can manually move it left and right smoothly with your hand then maybe it's skip steps during the print job, you still need the multimeter to check the voltage of the motor driver,

Re: First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is work
lets say that the bed is not in the desired ohm range, is there a way to remedy ?
Re: First day with the I3 X printer.. not everything is work
seems no way to remedy it, need a new bed..
Re: First day with the I3 X printer..turned on blank screen
Just finished putting together my Prusa I3. Checked wiring. Turned on and only got a blank screen. Any suggestion ?
