Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
Hello everyone! Today I want to share a brilliant idea for the Z wobbling problem from Jimmy Shaw's Tidbits.
Actually it is a set of Anti-Wobble Brackets for the Z axis, it will greatly reduce the lines around the printed object.
Let's see what's it looks like and how it's assembled: And this is the result, really quite good! If you are interested in printing a set of these, you can find the file on Thingiverse at :
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1424358
In addition, you'll gonna need 2 standard M8 Nuts, they are available at most Hardware Stores. And that's all you need.
Here is this awesome vedio link:

Also you can learn how to level your heatbed with a piece of paper here.
Thank you for watching!!!

Re: Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
I just built a Acrylic i3 and my threaded rods are really bad. 1 of them wobbles 15mm at the top.
This mod will help reducing lines, but as the rods are so bad I'm going to buy new ones from my local HW store where I can pick any I want from a large pile so I can be sure they are straight.
Great mod - 1st things to print for me.

This is shown with the all metal carrier. And using an 8mm nut on the threaded rod.
Has anyone tried it with the printed carrier?
How much build area height do you loose after install?
Thanx

Hi, mine is all metal, I Didn't loose much, I can measure when I get back home from vacation
Re: Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
Is this good also for the acrlyc I3? I think i have the same wobbling problem
Re: Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
Hi!
Yes it is!
I also have the acrylic version and this solution isolates the entire structure from wobble. In my case the threaded rods was really bad so I replaced them with straight ones from a local HW-store.
Make sure you enlarge the hole on the top plate to allow the threaded rods to move back and forth.
It is very difficult to mount the threaded rods to center with the couplings, this adds upp to some wobble as well.
All in all - this solution solves it.

Thanks UndCon! I'll print this later and see how it goes
Re: Z Wobble Fix For Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3
Good luck!
I was so happy with this fix that I printed the parts again after I put the pieces on the printer. The 2nd run was a great.
