Replacing Makerbot Rep 2x Extruders with Geeetech dual ext

Post by Mauzman » Sun Feb 28, 2016 9:37 am

I purchased the Geeetech Dual MK8 extruder assembly. I wanted to replace my OEM extruder that came with the Makerbot 2x. I wired everything up and matched the hookups. Fired it up and kept getting a temperature error, I could not get the Geeetech extruders to heat up, constant errors. I then wired up the OEM extruders and they worked perfectly. I worked on troubleshooting for 4 hours and feel like I am banging my head against the wall. Please help or let me know if you have figured out how to upgrade to these performance extruders. After I was done with all sorts of troubleshooting I wired up the Makerbot extruders and they worked perfectly. Please Help!!! :) :) :) :)

Are the heating elements and thermistors fit your own printer?

Yes, the heating elements and thermistors fit the Makerbot Replicator 2x. I have been doing some research and I think I have found the solution. My Makerbot 2x requires Thermocouplers instead of Thermistors. I have ordered 2 new thermocouples and will install them as soon as they arrive
