Extruder Fan

Post by axenias » Thu Jan 07, 2016 8:58 am

Hello, i recently bought an i3 pro b. I am very happy untill now. I have a question, is it normal for the fan of extruder to work all time? When i press the power button it starts working untill press the power off again. I tried to set up the speed or something but nothing changed. It seems to work full speed all time... Should it work like that?

yes it needs to cool down the extruder motor or it will be too hot.

yes this is reasonable that you say but i cannot understand why it works from start, without any heat, in room temperature. the fan and the board is for dimmer fun with 3 cables not two. So why not working in better way??? MAybe i have to set up something in firmware?

actually there a PWM fan connector on your board, it can be controled by the repetier host and in the slic3r settings. Plug the fan in that connector and you'll turn it on and off or change the speed here:

Yes, i know these settings allready but ther system doesnt respond to any tick change. The fan is always on with the same speed. These settings i am using from the beggin. This is why i am wondering what is wrong... MAybe the firmware?

Nope, it depends on the gcode you generated, usually it is the same speed.

Hi Mark,

can you reply which Mxxx commands need to be send to start/stop the fan of extruder 0 and 1. And maybe which Mxxx command is required to control the speed. This would really help to investigate the gcode and see, if everything is alright.
