Y Axis will not Auto home

Post by edhrah » Sat Jan 02, 2016 1:43 am

I have a Geeetech I3 pro C which has been assembled and in process of testing. 'I resolved the Z axis issue by uploading the correct firmware that was provided by Geeetech. There was some severe wobble in the Z axis threaded rods and corrected successfully. Both X and Z will auto home now. However Y axis never auto homes. I have confirmed that the motors are plugged into the correct port on the control board. I have also confirmed that the Y end stop is plugged into Y min. When I manually step the Y axis I have to manually find home first or force it passed the 200 mm point in the opposite direction. Once I have that I will not get the Hit End stop Y warning. Manually moving back and forth from min to max is not an issue. But if I Auto Home the bet will only move one small step in a positive direction and Never towards the end stop. I also tried to reverse the the direction of the Y axis and it moved in the direction of the end stop but still only a small step or jitter. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

this might be the endstop's problem, check the Y axis endstop wirings, see if it is loose or bad contact.

Thanks for replying. It turns out that the black wire is poorly crimped on the connector to the y axis stepper motor. I can move the wire and force to start or stop moving deliberately. Hopefully this will help someone else and save them the time that it takes to find the same problem.
