M201 slicer problems
M201 slicer problems
Hi I have been using the i3 m201 for about a week, had to tinker a little and I'm starting to make progress.
I'm using repetier host v1.6 and I find that occasionally the printer pauses during prints for upto 39 seconds then starts again, I use the plugged in slic3r but feel that it doesn't work very well for me. The layer adhesion isn't the best no matter how I configure it and I find the side walls very stepped and layers but uniform.
I find that the curaengine works far better and is more precise but after about 8 layers of printing it starts overlapping layers and extruding the next layer somewhere else on the print bed. It's starting to get annoying.
Can anyone confirm the firmware of the printer the board is running? I know it a relatively new board and I have ruled out belt and pully problems, I don't get these problems in slic3r, none of the axis are jamming or fouling, I get the same problems with the sd card and the nozzle isn't hitting the rest of the print.
What other slicers would anyone recommend that might work.
Thanks

Re: M201 slicer problems
uh..it's a firmware problem I've run into this before, and has been testing it all these days, will update the firmware maybe after this weekend, working on it.
Re: M201 slicer problems
Thanks for the update.. I know it's a newish design and I'll hold off printing until the updates out.
Re: M201 slicer problems
I can confirm this. I have exactly the same issues.
Re: M201 slicer problems
Hi Certeza, glad to know it's not just mine and that they are fixing the problem.
For the money I'm quite satisfied with the build quality, did you have to rebuild the carriage and extruders to get the z endstop to work? I found the newer instructions on the forum after I may the change.
How are you finding the 2 into 1 extruder? I'm ordering 2 jhead mark6 extruders and making a custom bracket to keep my options open as I find I have to set the nozzle temp 10 degrees higher than my abs and pla are designed to print at must just be a quirk of making the filament travel at angles to the nozzle.
I can't wait to be able to use cura as the results on what does print is very very nice, well until it goes mental and puts layers everywhere.

Re: M201 slicer problems
the new firmware will be available tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I'll post a thread about this later.
