Sanguinololu issues

I've followed the newest instructions and have made some headway. I now have limited control over my axis. All motors seem to only function in one direction. "Z" moves up only. "X" towards the stop. And "Y" to the rear. None will return. I'm beginning to wonder if the issue lies with the board itself as now I no longer even have an LCD display since re-doing the uploads etc. Previously it was solid black blocks. Having said that, I would like to ask for a replacement board. I've rewired it 3 times. Each time carefully following the instructions and diagrams ( each time I have had a solid red LED when powered up or plugged in to the USB port ). I've made numerous attempts at loading it, only to come to the conclusion that there may be something fundamentally wrong with the one I was sent with my kit. ( Geeetech i3 Acrylic Black with Sanguinololu )

Could you please your process of uploading firmware? Please tell me step by step.

I have followed the steps as per instructions.
I have downloaded the various files. Moved Sanguino into Arduino "hardware'. Marlin into Arduino exe. Followed directions for inputting / confirming board, port and parameter changes in "configure h". Verified and uploaded via Arduino / Marlin. Installed appropriate ( non-Windows ) drivers. My computer recognizes device in "port 4" and confirms operation.

Now, that Marlins' destination has been clarified, I still have not gone beyond limited motion on all axis. "Z" rises only. "Y' moves to the rear ( with very limited forward motion. "X" moves to the left ( with limited right hand movement ). "X" and "Y" both seem to come to a stop a roughly the mid point of their travel spans when I attempt to "return" them. Fans now come on with main power switch. They did nothing before. LCD panel is still non functional.

And just to be clear, I have now re-wired everything ( 3 times ) to make sure I had done nothing wrong. The upload process has been done at least a dozen times and I am only marginally ahead of where I was prior to some clarification in regards to Marlin. If you could please explain the "Flash" and reset process I am eager to try that even though I do suspect there may be an issue with the board itself. And considering the number of posts / threads looking for answers to the same problems, I am not alone. Nor do I think we can all be coming to the same end result if it is a strictly "person by person" misunderstanding of instructions.

I've followed the directions posted both here on the "firmware" thread and on the Wiki page linked to it. I've downloaded recommended files including the i3 file I received via email. I moved Marlin into Arduino exe. ( finally that got clarified ), Sanguin into Arduino "hardware". Followed the step by step instructions on the Wiki page about inputting board, port, parameters etc in Marlin config "h". Verified and uploaded. Drivers installed correctly and my computer recognises port, etc.

Now, having done this a dozen times at least, I still have limited motion on all axis. Each moves in one direction without problem ( though I have gained some control over "X" and "Y" in opposite direction ). "Z" still travels upwards only. Fans now come on with main power. LCD panel is blank.

I have rewired everything 3 times now to make sure it is correct. Power supply lights up green when on and the Sanguinololu LED is a strong, constant red when connected.

I can't attach an image because I do not use a public file storage thing. Since you are asking for a photo, would it be safe to assume I followed the upload procedures correctly? Is there another way to get the image to you?

Okay, here is my newest update as to where things stand for me. I've swapped the 2 thermistor / bed wires on the board and they both heat up perfect in Repetier and Pronterface. LCD panel still shows solid blocks no matter what adjustments I make. Swapping wires or turning the tiny screw beside the SD card slot. Axis move freely but only in one direction unless I hold down the corresponding limit switch. Then I can move the axis back. "Homing" moves the axis only in the free moving direction. "Z" up. "X" left. "Y" to the rear.

Any suggestions now?

How do you connect the endstops?Please take a picture. The wires should be connect to "GND" and "SIG" pins.
