They are mainly diffrent in the construction of hot end.

Can you just buy the better extruder and upgrade the firmware without buying a Pro B? Assuming that you already have the regular Pro.

Is it as simple as replacing the part and updating the firmware? That would be simple for me.

Having to readjust/configure voltages and Amps would be not so simple... but still doable.

Is there documentation provided by GT on how to do this?

Just replace the part and upgrade the firmware, I think.
