LCD Selection knob not working

Post by nobikes » Thu Mar 26, 2015 6:13 am

I have just finished building my Geeetech i3. I am having two problems with the electronics, First the Iduino Mega r3 will not take any uploads from the Arduino IDE. The problem that needs resolving in this post is the LCD. The selection Knob on the LCD is not working. The button component works, but when turned nothing happens. I have tested it on my home built Pursa i3 and my Tinkerine machine in both cases it has the same problem. The knob or the whole LCD need replacing.

1. When you want to upload the firmware with Arduino IDE, you should choose correct board type(Tools>Board>Arduino Mega2560 or Mega ADK) and correct COM port(Tools>Srial Port>...)
2. As you can see on the back side of LCD, there are 2 wires, one of the wire is not well plugged, please check.

Yeah, The wires are properly plugged in and i had the correct board selected. I am very familiar with how 3d printers and their electronics work. I have 3 machines all running ramps and Arduino Megas. I have tested the electronics with those machines and the GEEETECH iduino and LCD do not work. The electronics are not working and i need a solution!!

Unplug 2 wires from board and LCD, reverse them and plug them again, see if there is any diffrence.
I mean plug wire A to port B, and plug wire B to port A.

I have tried that. The display does not work at all if the plugs are reversed

I noticed some bad solider joints on the LCD selector knob. After fixing them with an iron the LCD now works.
