Z axis assembly questions

Post by retaf99 » Thu Mar 19, 2015 10:28 am

Hello,

I have 2 issues.

1) I purchased the Prusa i3 and when installing the z axis limit switch the instructions say to use 2 M2.5 X 15 screws. I have the screws but they just slide through the holes. There is no mention of needing nuts for this step and the 2 M2.5 nuts that are supplied with the kit are used in a previous step.

2) when connecting the Z axis motors to the Mega 2560 and Ramps 1.4 stack the instructions say to use 2 DuPont cables to connect them. However only one DuPont cable is sent with the kit. This is confirmed by referring to the packing booklet.

Not sure what to do here or if I am misunderstanding the instructions. Your help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi, retaf99
1. There is a square nut to fix the screw. Look at the picture.

2. I am so sorry that we leave out a Dupont because of our carelessness. Please contact out customer service and ask them to send you another one.

Thank you for posting that picture as I did not even know that the bolt was supposed to be installed, it is not in the instructions at all. I was speaking of the screws holding the limit switch itself. There are no nuts for them and the holes are not threaded.

I think you need to use a bit of force.

Not sure why I would need to use force. The instructions state to use M2.5 X 16 screws and they slide right through. I also went through the instructions and I still cannot find where it tells me to install the bolt in the picture you posted or what the part numbers are that I need to set that up.

I am not sure what you mean by using force. The screws are M2.5 X 16's and they slide right into place both through the limit switch and the acrylic mount.

Sorry, my bad.
There are 2 nuts used to fix those 2 screws.

That is what I figured. The only problem is as I stated before. The nuts would have to be M2.5 and the kit only comes with 2 of them and they are used in a prior step.
