how do i edit the firmware? i am quite new to all this, can i edit the firmware on the board or do i have to download new firmware and then reinstall it??

You should download a firmware. Edit and compile on computer, then onnect the board and computer, and burn it into the board.

what firmware is currently in use do i just download any copy of marlin or is there a geetech spacific file i should use

I have received the file but there doesn't appear to be a file i can open with ardunio to edit, it tells me i can only open .ino or .pde files and everything in the zip is .cpp or .h, some guidance is needed....

hi thanks for the reply via email, the only thing i need to work out now is the z axis endstop positioning, but i will post again if any further hel is needed :)

so i have got all the axis working and if i run the system the printer moves as it should, however the extruder isn't functioning correctly, I am using 3mm filament, and the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpHmXHF ... e=youtu.be will illustrate what is happening, if i loosen the top screw the motor will spin freely what can i do to fix this issues.

What is the filament you use and the nozzle's temprature?
Is the problem similiar to yours?
