I3 Pro B Print Problem.

Post by printerpete » Mon Feb 14, 2022 6:46 pm

Hi All,

Am New to this 3d printing stuff.

Was given a i3 Pro B DIY for Xmas, Bult and was working fine but now have a problem!

This is it:
When trying to print the Printer warms up and goes through all the things to print things but no philiment comes out of the exuder.

The stepper motor doesn't move to push the filiment through the extuder.

have changed the motor and cable for new ones but still the same!

Any ideas???

You indicate that you've already had the printer working properly which is good.

Not a lot of information here. What sort of filament are you using? PLA, ABS, PETG, etc. What temperatures have you set for the hot end and bed. The extruder will not work till the temperatures are reached due to an interlock programmed into the firmware.
The stepper motor doesn't move to push the filiment through the extuder.
With the hot end at the correct temperature, (eg PLA about 200 degrees C) can you push the filament through the heater/nozzle by hand?
Have you tried removing the filament, cleaning the hot end using the cleaning pin supplied, and re-loading? Hmmm... Maybe you've already done this as you've replaced the motor...

As you've already had the printer working I'd reckon a clogged nozzle would be the first place to look (see above). I uses a Sharpie permanent marker to draw a line on the RHS of the filament feed motor shaft so I could easily tell if the shaft was turning.

If the nozzle itself is blocked you can buy spare nozzles (Mine is 0.3mm, it's embossed on the side) which also come with very fine cleaning pins - they look like acupuncture needles. Check Amazon or whoever, pretty cheap. Remember you'll have to heat up the extruder before trying to clean it!

Hope this helps!

Play Bonny!
