Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
Re: Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
I am currently working on putting a SKR1.4 and TFT35 E3 V3 in my A20M because I was having Yaxis layer shifting issues that just wouldn't go away no matter what I tried. I was just going to put this in my Ender 3 but then I was thinking at the moment that printer is locked in and I didn't want to mess with it. This project has been a struggle because there is almost nothing on it for information. I have the firmware flashed and working I have been knocking out one issue at a time. I now have it moving and homing with endstops working because they weren't but just had to rotate plugs 180. I just finished up the wiring harness so I could keep the extruder board that sites on the hotend. I will be installing tomorrow and it that works it's just a matter of putting everything back together. I just need to make sure hot end turns on and fans work. I have to put the bed back on and wire up but that was a easier part.

i have converted my A20M with a SKR 1.4, bltouch, TMC2226 (2209), TFT 3.5 and BMG, all work, just need a good profil for massive stringing....

I'm doing the same thing, but I want to keep the original TFT.
You encountered problems with the old one or you just want an upgrade?
Another thing, you cutted the pin in the 2209 driver for the endstop?
My 1.4 turbo just arrived, I've compiled the firmware yesterday night.
Checked you on GDrive, there are really few difference with mine. Think this is good.
And you had problem fitting the SKR under the printer, with cables or something? Can you share some photos?
Thanks in advance.

Great job!
Have you used the original geeetech extruder cable and extension board?
I want to do such upgrade with my a10, starting with replacing stock hotend with e3dv6 and replace the mainboard in the future.

Of course, with the different plug, I mean if you decided to skip the problem and go for the new LCD or if you tried to adapt the wirings.
Re: Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
Rather than replace the mainboard with a 32bit variety, I opted to just use Klipper on my A20, keep the 8 bit board and replace the drivers with TMC2209s. Klipper flashes very basic I/O code to the mainboard and does all the kinematic/planning on a Raspberry PI which makes it extremely fast and capable. Other than that, I've replaced both extruders with BMG clones and the hotend with a better designed model off of Amazon. Getting very good (and most importantly reliable) results with the printer now on dual extrusion prints. There is a lightweight web GUI available for Klipper called Mainsail you can use as well.

Could you share photos of your skr board wiring??gio@dkonline.be wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 3:47 ami have converted my A20M with a SKR 1.4, bltouch, TMC2226 (2209), TFT 3.5 and BMG, all work, just need a good profil for massive stringing....

I got A10T, but I was able to print on it 3 times.3DAngel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 1:39 amhello fellows A20M /A10M users:
has anyone here gone far enough to start thinking about upgrading their Main Board?
I'm slowly started to gather all needed parts for this project of mine, and wanted to know if anyone has already gone this route....
so far I 've gathered:
skr V1.3 or MKS Sbase with bigtree's TMC2208 V3 or the onboard DRV8825
molex connectors
40pins flat cable breakboard
the main idea here is to build custom cable connection for the E0 and E1 that will brak to different connectors tobe used on the new main board.
since the LCD is "good enough" , and has dedicated SD slot to the frame, it will need the 40 pins flat cable break board to build the Exp1 & Epx2 connection
if you have any experiences and could share in here, or feedbacks... all are very welcome!!!
My skr V1.3 and Sbase has already flashed with Vert's build of Marlin2 and initial testings are all good.
cheers
I'm already waiting for my third replacement motherboard and motor. It's starting to frustrating me a little bit on stock firmware autolevel don't respect boundaries and hitting gantry on end of x axis. On marlin2 got lag of memory on mega2560.
I think about skr pro 1.2 cause its got 6 driver slots and it's best suits for 3 extruder in my price range. For this I think about btt tft35 v3 dual mode, just because not everything is accessible from tuch screen.
For firmware I prefer to use marlin bugfix instead of verts one. Anyway I got lot of things to change in config.h like printer dimensions what on a10t it's different than A10 and it's 225 by 225 not 230 by 230. Also prefer to use bi linear autolevel than ubl that makes me crazy when try to make z ofset and it's different every print . For enclosure I propably cut original box with dremel to suit skr pro. I already put 2 Mosfet and 600w psu cause my first MB die and mosfet was burned later on all 5v power burnt out.

Drivers are upgradable.
I've changed them on my gtv4.
Soon i'll buy skr 1.4 for my a10 and will try to make post about it.
I've already changed the stock hotend to direct drive e3dv6.
