Hello,
I bought an Acrylic Prusa Mendel I3 with Mega 2560/ramps1.4, with MK8 extruder. I purchased it as a DIY kit in January 2015. I recently modified the printer to allow a higher Maximum Z height of 200 mm. It seems the firmware is still limiting the height to 185mm. I think I need to change the Z_MAX_POS in the configuration.h file and then recompile and reload the firmware.
I have checked around this forum for a copy of the original firmware, but I can't seem to find the correct one for this printer. I see some have said this printer is a "Pro B' version, but it does not say 'Pro B' on the user manual or invoice description. And the Pro B firmware I have downloaded has a Z_MAX_POS = 180, not 185 as mine has.
Can I use this firmware? I am hesitant to over write the current firmware and 'Brick' my printer. Is there any danger of doing this?
Is there any way to look up the current firmware name and version that is currently on the Arduino? To make sure I am starting with the correct version?
Please let me know,
Paul

Re: Need firmware for Acrylic Prusa Mendel I3 with Mega 2560/ramps1.4
Hello, I hear from your customer service that you no longer have the firmware for this printer. Can you tell me which firmware is close and and what I may have to edit in the configuration.h file or other files?
I tried the pro-B version and the I3A, but the 4 x 20 display just shows blank in either case.
Please help me,
Paul

Sorry, I didn't understand what type of machine you are talking about. Perhaps you can find the corresponding firmware from this link.

Re: Need firmware for Acrylic Prusa Mendel I3 with Mega 2560/ramps1.4
Hi William,
I looked for the firmware in the link you provided, but none seem to match my 3d printer. I did purchase the printer from Geeetech in January 2015. The invoice from Geeetech says:
"Unassembled-Full Acrylic Quality High Precision Prusa Mendel I3
controller board - mega2560 + ramps 1.4
hotend nozzle size - 0.4mm
hotend PTFE tube size - 1.75mm
Acrylic colors - Transparent"
I tried the "Marlin-PI3_Pro_B" and "Prusa I3A 2560" using your instructions, with Arduino 1.0.1, but after installation the 4 x 20 display is blank, it does not show the menu.
Is there another firmware I can try? or should I modify the configuration.h file of one of these to make it work?

Re: Need firmware for Acrylic Prusa Mendel I3 with Mega 2560/ramps1.4
Hi again William,
One more question: The display on my Prusa is a Geeetech LCD2004. After installing either of the "Marlin-PI3_Pro_B" and "Prusa I3A 2560" firmwares, the 1st and 3rd lines of the 4 line display are dark (see photo). I see these firmwares have #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER in the configuration.h file. Is this correct for my Prusa Mendel I3?
