A10T Print Quality

Post by IamAnubis » Sun Jun 21, 2020 5:03 pm

Hi,

After having my motherboard fail and getting a replacement sent out fro Geeetech, I installed it into my A10T and also installed at 3DTouch at the same time. I flashed the firmware over and then went to continue printing with my printer.........only to discover that the quality has diminished to the point of disastrous!!!

I used to get this quality out of my A10T

but after replacing the motherboard, installing the 3DTouch and flashing the firmware I got this quality

I thought that maybe the hot end was blocked so I cleaned it out and set it up for another print........only to get this.

Post motherboard replacement, very poor quality.

I have no idea what is going on, I have tried adjusting the bed level and the nozzle levels, I have even tried changing the details in Repetier-Host what seems to be a thousand times and it just continues to print like the this

I have even used files that I had sliced prior to the motherboard being changed and the 3D touch added as per this photo, but it still doesn't improve the print quality.

Where is it all going wrong?? I have checked that all the parts were swapped correctly between the old motherboard and the new one, I have checked all the cabling and physical parts the only thing I can think of is there is a software issue somewhere and it is the same filament that was in the machine before the motherboard failure so I am fairly sure that it is not that.

I use my A10T for my small business projects so I need the quality it was providing before the motherboard failure, can you please help me as I have spent nearly 7 days trying to improve the print quality only for it to continue to give poor quality?

Hi!
Maybe you should do PID calibration?
If you buy printer as it is, it's already should be calibrated.
The new motherboard may have different PID values.

Hi, it is recommended to calibrate the extruder:
Calibration step 1: In order not to consume consumables, the heating end of the feed tube can be pulled out.
Calibration step 2: The feeder feeds a section of consumable filament and clamps it tightly.
Calibration step 3: Select the position of the consumable port of the feeder as the starting point, and make a mark at 120mm of the consumable wire.
Calibration step 4: Control the printer to feed the wire 100mm on the LCD.
Calibration Step 5: Measure the actual distance from the consumables entrance to the marking just made. If it exceeds 20mm, it means that there is too little wire feeding. If it is less than 20mm, it means too much wire feeding.
Calibration step 6: Calculation formula: new_e_steps = old_e_steps * (100 / distance_actually_moved)
Calibration Step 7: Rewrite the new_e_steps you got into the machine. Can be set on the screen
22. First check the connection of the motor of the extruder to see if it is connected incorrectly.
If the connection is correct, change the motor wire of the extruder to the X axis. If the extruder motor still cannot turn, the extruder motor cable is dead.

Hi,

Thank you for your both for assistance, I will give both methods a try and see if they work.

Being a relative new person to doing this kind of adjustments to a printer, would you possibly have any pictures that could assist me in doing the work?

I would like to ensure that I am not setting it up to self destruct in a massive atomic fireball by clicking/changing the incorrect wire (I know it is not possible to actually do this!) as I am more a visual with pictures learner than understanding text and I kind of enjoy using the A10T as apposed to single colour printers.

I thank you in advance if you could assist me :)

Definitely looks like under-extrusion. Calibrating is rather simple. Here is a video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PChOqIBNwOs
For this work, I pull the Bowden tubes out of the extruders, cut the filament at the face of the coupling, connect my laptop with Pronterface, issue this command line to extrude 100mm of filament. G1 E100 F100. If it extrudes less, then its under-extruding. Video explains well. I just go into the menu on the printer and change the esteps , and save the setting, then run the G1 E100 F100 again until I hit 100mm.
