A20M Left extruder keeps slipping

Post by Mccl0215 » Tue Mar 10, 2020 11:28 pm

Hello all,
I have the new A20M and the left extruder keeps slipping which causes under extrusion. I have tried:
Taking the whole thing apart to check for clogs - None
I have adjusted the tension of the spring both looser and tighter.
I have updated the firmware

Here is a link to the video

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, You can check if your extruder motor can run normally,
And look at the gap between your supplies in the feeder,
If it is too loose, it can be adjusted in the feed.
-Keep your mind and try to test it. :)

Can you swap them and confirm it is the extruder and not the feed or electronics?

Hi, I had the same problem, changed the extruder motor, parts, everything, but don´t matter what you do, will keep slipping. It´s not the motor for mechanics, IT´s the HOT END, for some reason, the temperature at the LEFT HOT END floats more and gets jammed. Just that.
I didn´t solved this problem yet, but we have the same problem.

so by simply swapping the feed tube at the hotend side, the slipping will swap?

One thought is to crank up the heat and feed some abs plastic. The abs might be able to scrub the pla.

Hi,
you can raise the temperature to try it,
or place a small piece of paper on the spring.

I had this problem as well, and I just fixed it. It took me a long time to figure this out as the symptoms point to a clogged hotend, BUT it isn't clogged!

Here's what worked for me:

Disassemble the extruder stepper motor.
There is a gear that is keyed to the stepper motor shaft, the screw is too high and grinds against the larger gear. Loosen the screw, remove that gear and flip it around. Now the setscrew will be closer to the bottom of the shaft and won't contact the larger gear.

When you reassemble the gear housing, be gentle with the torque on the screws. Only use enough pressure to keep things from falling apart. If those top 4 screws are too tight the gears will bind and the stepper won't be able to overcome the friction.

Now I need to fix the SD reader problem... the card won't refresh...

Cheers,
Dinosound
