I had a major clog and had to take the hot end apart.
When I was taking off the hot end throat. I think that’s what is called. There were a copper cap on each side.
On side tho had it installed facing up. The other side had it installed facing down.
Do I need them ?
What are they for ?
What’s the correct was of putting them in ?

The right side hot end the pointy end was facing up and the left side the pointy end was facing Down
Are they supposed to be like that or both should be facing the same way ?
And if both should be facing same way what way is the right way ??

I also had a major clog where I couldn't push anything through the non master filament side, the side I rarely use.
Similarly I pull mine apart, but those discs were not in mine. I can see how they would act like valve, though not sure how the liquid filament would get around them. I need to leave filament in my non-master side otherwise I get plastic coming up into the bowden tube. Even when I leave filament I still seems to push up into the tube. Now I wondering how I get a set of what you have which might alleviate my issue.

I really don't think it matters.
You can place the disc and any none plastic part into the oven at 400 degrees and clean the plastic off the metal parts using a pot holder and paper towels. If you get the disc cleaned off, you will see a circle of holes around the perimeter. Everyone calls it a valve, but what I believe they are trying to do is split the filament into a number a streams, like a shredder. Then when "in theory" will blend better with the other color being mixed. The mixing is never complete, so an object printed with a mix of the 3 colors will reveal which part of the print came from what side of the hot end. It's actually I pretty cool effect, but nothing that will make proper color.
Removing the discs lead to a problem with the void they left. Rather than having a straight line to retract, there is an extra blob that retraction, so retraction causes a long string to be drawn and for cold pulls a blockage bigger than the tubes. Grinding away the void seemed to cure the problem, except I messed somehow poking a hole from 1 of the heater point into creamy plastic center of the the hot end, so the hot end leaked out of a heater hole. Plus it also leaked out of the drill holes that I removed the Allen screws.
The disc's mess up the retraction, where all the filament beneath the disc will stay in the hot end and ooze out, so switching from red to white takes a very large prime tower and even thing can throw a random bit of color.
