Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
hello fellows A20M /A10M users:
has anyone here gone far enough to start thinking about upgrading their Main Board?
I'm slowly started to gather all needed parts for this project of mine, and wanted to know if anyone has already gone this route....
so far I 've gathered:
skr V1.3 or MKS Sbase with bigtree's TMC2208 V3 or the onboard DRV8825
molex connectors
40pins flat cable breakboard
the main idea here is to build custom cable connection for the E0 and E1 that will brak to different connectors tobe used on the new main board.
since the LCD is "good enough" , and has dedicated SD slot to the frame, it will need the 40 pins flat cable break board to build the Exp1 & Epx2 connection
if you have any experiences and could share in here, or feedbacks... all are very welcome!!!
My skr V1.3 and Sbase has already flashed with Vert's build of Marlin2 and initial testings are all good.
cheers

Re: Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
The question is: Why you need 32 bit board for that printer?
If you want nice GUI, use Pronterface and some cheap Windows tablet with USB. Or Octoprint with Raspberry PI and touchy LCD.

A10M Slic3r profile: here and fresh on github (lot of tips here)
A10 Slic3r profile: here
TIP: tight all screws and wheels (except right side of Z axis) and re-align frame while assembly. And silence it.

Re: Upgrade A20M/ A10M to 32 bit MAin Board.... ANY one?
the 32bit main board is really needed....
the 8 bit board for the thing this printer should be capable to do.... it can not.
@Jarda3d
if you own this printer or any 8 bit board printer... try to push it for faster print, the cpu will no be able to keep up with the gcodes calculation and movements.
yes, simple cube it might be, but on the more complex prints it require more of the brain.
just check YT you will see....
in the end, the touch is nice view, but most likely, it will not be of much use....
and as you pointed out, an old tablet with Octoprint touch UI would be very nice viewing experience, but I doubt you will be stearing the nice UI for more than 5 '....
and yes, I do have Octo print, Astro print; used Klipper, closed FW with nice touch....etc
8 bit board for me it won't cut anymore!!
on this A20M/ A10M, Geeetech has done great job on putting specifics connectors that would not "allow" an easy upgrade, which I'm okay. every business needs their thing to protect their income....this is why I am about to venture into the upgrade and wanted to see if any others like myself has already began the venture or may be it is some thing interesting for other to "join" to the quest....
since... it is a hobby right...

I believe your build has deeper impact to more people than what you could imagine.....
the true isI wish MArlin could consider to add your configuration to the main branch or to work something of the configurator that would take care of a lot of functionalities like yours!!!

planning to replaced the existing A20m Z axis-2040 and it will gain another say.... 15cm in high...
now the challenge are the length of the existing cables....specially the X axis motor...

@3DAngel, how did you finally solve the lcd cable problem?
I am also thinking into moving to 32bits board and I would like to spend the less money as possible, so if I can save the money of other lcd screen it would be very nice.
In addition, which other problems did come up to you?

with a break board... it is my intention.
LCD 40 pins flat ribbon connects in and 40 output pins to install what ever type of connector.
