quality print issues

Post by randmvilnce » Sun Oct 13, 2019 10:45 pm

having some pretty big issues with my prints, its all over the place, A10M, dimensional accuracy is right out the window. have a look at this test tower I printed.

can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

my printhead is not wobbly, my bed is very secure, just started getting this wobbles in my prints a few months back.

It looks like Z axis wobble. I would look for z axis screw, it looks like something is too tight or too loose.

Hi, You can check if your z-axis mounting plate is stable.
If it is shaking, it needs to be fixed.
-Keep your mind and try to test it. :)

hey Vert, thanks for the reply.

the bed is level yes, its running one of the marlin 2.0 builds you were doing from a few months back with the manual mesh done. I do see that one was under extruding a bit on the top layer might have been the speed i had the layer on or it wants a few more degrees. temps seem pretty steady, this was printed at 204c, kinda bounced around a degree or so but nothing major noted in octo.
the Z Wobble is what im really trying to fix, I took the z rod out again tonight, looks fine to me. I ran the Z motor a bit, I'm not seeing anything odd from it either not warped or off kilter. Im not sure of its even possible to check the coupler holding the motor to the rod, but it looked fine to me. I put it together and ran another print. same results.
I think ill pull the rod out again and move the gantry up and down and try to focus on the wheels for the Z carriage. maybe something fishy there. the pattern it leaves on my parts is pretty repetitive.

any other thoughts or things i should check?

Might be the right side of wheels at X axis too tight or too loose.

And underextrusion I see if someone want to have "exact size" of round holes etc. so they possibly want to have underextruded.

Similar effects (but less) I have when wind is in the room with ABS - all door openings are "exactly displayed".

TIP: tight all screws and wheels (except right side of Z axis) and re-align frame while assembly. And silence it.
