Trouble in printing and a long story

Post by RBandeira » Thu Sep 26, 2019 7:09 pm

Prusa i3 Pro B

Hi,
I need help but I think that it isn't simple to explain every thing in one simple text.
I have too much informations to give you then I decided to go step by step from the end to the beginning.
After we solve one question I'll complete this post with the next situation.
In this way I write a short summary and I ask down my first question.

A SHORT SUMMARY
In December 2017 I started printing well with my Prusa i3 Pro B.
In summary it started with an under extrusion situation with some prints fails others not bad.
That's why I didn't realise that I had something wrong with the machine. I am a beginner and I tried to find what I was doing wrong.
I installed a 3DTouch that worked nice. I suppose I did it well.
But the under extrusion started to be more frequent.
I spent lot of time trying to solve it and finally I got lost.
And one day, by accident I ripped out my USB cable and damaged the motherboard connector.
I was obliged to change the card and I bought one at Amazon.
It seems to be exactly the same GT2560 Rev A+.
Then I installed the new card and notice that there was a firmware pre-installed.
But, because I have the 3DTouch, I need to flash (upload) the (marlin file) passing by Arduino IDE V101.

THE FIRST QUESTION
Before I changed the motherboard, I was able to connect and control the printer using the USB and COM port.
Since I have the new card I can't get a COM port. I tested another PC and it finds the COM port.
How can I get my PC connected again with the machine?

Thanks for your help.

Hello.

Try uninstalling the old COM port and removing the driver files at the same time.
Restart the system and reinstall the driver. ;)
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.

Hi _Kacktus_
Thanks for your answer.
"Try uninstalling the old COM port"
In fact I did this before with no success.
But Yesterday I found the solution then I share with you.

In the old mother board the USB chip is a FTDI and the new one is a CH340 chip.
I don't know why Windows didn't found the good driver, but each time I sent the one I had it wasn't the good one.

Now I have my printer connected again, it will be easier to make same test in order to solve my "under-extrusion" situation.
Ready for the next question? See you in my next reply.

Hi, about the USB driver you can refer to this:https://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopi ... RlcFtWdCG4

and you can download from this: https://www.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=40

and you can use the right COM.

During the period I was trying to fix the under extrusion I decided to change the 0.3 mm nozzle.
I put a 0.4 mm because I suppose it will have a better capacity to extrude the filament.
Am I right or wrong?
Yesterday I printed two simple tests. One cube 10mm and a small wheel.
The first test printed nicely and the second one was just acceptable.
During both tests I can hear a sliding gear noise while printing the perimeters lines. In the filling lines there was no noise.

I will check some settings but if you have one idea, what do you suggest to me to check for the next test?
Thanks.

:D Hi, There is no special requirement for the nozzle, or 0.4mm is better.
And if there is a problem with your printing, you need to check the print settings of the slice.
Regarding what you say in the gear, you can check if your connections are fully connected, and if there is a partial blockage during the printing process, clean it up in time.

Hi RBandeira.

It's nice to hear you're going to solve your problems yourself. ;)

Change the nozzles as you like, carry out various tests. This way you will become an expert faster.

If you own a new printer, keep in mind it has to work.
Due to this, all the mechanisms will be able to adjust.
This will require some patience ...

Lubricate all slide bearings and guides with good quality oil.

By the way. Describe the new problem in a new topic. This way there will be no mess.
Other users will find it easier to identify the problem if they face similar troubles. :P
