Printer won't print without manual intervention

I have the strangest problem. My A10M won't actually print anything, sort of.
When I start a print, either from an SD card or OctoPi, the printer does an auto home, then a auto bed level (BLTouch), and waits for the bed and nozzle to heat as expected, BUT even after the selected temps are reached, it still says E1 heating.

The control panel shows the correct temps, and OctoPi also shows the correct temps. In order to get it to actually print, I need to go to the cvontrol panel and change the default nozzle temp to something lower, and then it continues. It doesn't make any difference what I lower it to (only 1 degree is enough) nor does it make any difference what the temps are in the GCODE. I re-flashed the same code that I installed originally when I installed the BLTouch (a hex file I got from this forum, Marlin 1.1.9), with no difference. It does the same thing even if the printer isn't connected to OctoPi or not.
I have no idea where to go with this, and Marlin options are too complex to figure out. I only can use the Arduino IDE (no platform.io).
