A 10 lcd screen FR Function

hello: completely new to 3d printing. I have been able to produce some satisfactory prints, but the process has been trial and error. I'm looking for some clarification on the FR function which shows on the lcd screen. After reading manual for A 10 I thought the FR function allowed for adjustment of print speed. I find setting FR to 60% yields good results. Am I correct in my assumption that A 10 reads settings from the g-code? If this is correct, why does my FR reading always show 100%, requiring a manual reset to 60%. I note that bed temperatures reflect what I would expect from settings in g-code. If I run the print at 100% the result is spongy and transparent. I did find a discussion on this issue on another site but the replies suggested two different explanations:
1: that FR represented A 10 actual machine print speed not related to anything in g-code
2: that FR represented 100% of speed specified in g-code. e.g. if print speed has been set at 60mm/sec then FR 100% represents 60mm/sec
I'm hopeful someone can clarify this for me and offer suggestion on how to get machine running correctly.
