Print moves on bed 2/3s of the way completed

Post by torasan » Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:27 am

I am new to the 3d printing world and have followed several YouTube videos on setup and printing. I have the A10T series and trying to print the dog (from the flash disk) from the sample printing as a first print. About 2/3 of the way printing, the dog begins to move on the bed and the print is then all over the place due to the movement. I am unsure how to reset to factory settings, since I have been playing with everything trying to get this to work. Can someone point me in the correct direction? Thanks for all your help in advance.

It sounds like you are getting poor adhesion between the bed and the first layer.

Try this:

- level the bed using the sheet of paper method, but make sure you level it only in the area where the dog will print. Some Geeetech beds are warped from the factory, so leveling from the corners only may not be good enough.

- make sure your leveling job leaves you with a little "grab" on the paper. It shouldn't just slide out with zero resistance but it also shouldn't leave a mark on the paper. I've found that, to ensure my prints stick, I've had to make my first layer a real squeeze via leveling.

- wipe down the bed with some 97% isopropyl alcohol before you heat it in preparation for your next printing attempt.

- start the print and get down level with the bed. Watch the first layer be laid down and if it looks like it isn't adhering well because the nozzle is too far away from the bed, you can adjust the leveling knobs as the print continues, until you like what you see.

If you do all of this and you still have it pop loose, you may have a defective superplate coating, which you might be able to mitigate by cleaning with alcohol, then heating the bed and laying down 3 layers of hairspray; give it one minute between layers.
