A10M Blank screen after startup

Good afternoon. I've been searching around the forums and found some posts about the A10 and A10M screen being completely blank, or having nothing but black boxes instead of text. My problem is slightly different however. The machine boots up perfectly fine, and i can see the Marlin logo and read the Marlin version text. After that however, the screen goes blank (still backlit) with no text on it. I've tried reflashing my firmware to the version that I have been using for quite some time now, but after compiling and uploading, I get the error "An error occurred while uploading the sketch" with no other amplifying information.
Stranger yet, this happened randomly with no change to my machine. I tried turning it off and back on again and it actually worked until I got through about 1/2 of a short print. The machine power cycled, then the message on the screen read something like "print interupted, please restart" or something along those lines. Once I powered it off, the machine has not displayed any text (except for the startup logo and text as mentioned above) ever since.
I pulled the cover plate off to reveal my board and noticed a flashing orange light labeled "L". I don't have a ton of experience or memory looking at this board with its cover off, but I don't recall seeing any flashing lights from down there.
Thank you for your help in advance
