newbie question A10 - marlin 1.1.8 3d touch

Hi,
bought one of these to play with and decide to get the 3d touch sensor... The printer was printing fine after a few initial hardware hiccups (bad solder joint) I decided to get the 3d touch. Followed the configuration video but after updating the firmware for the 3d touch i note that even though i had the bed levelled manually and working before... i now have to set a z offset of 3.8mm (i was expecting 1.5ish)

When i i go back to the older non 3d touch frimware and manually level the bed it still works fine... and I manually levelled the bed again and zero'd the z axis before i started the 3dtouch calibration...

now that said everything is working fine but I am puzzled as to why this might be happening!

ok... another real newbie question.. (more used to non diy printers) this one more aimed @Vert

i had a look at marlin 2! i got it (eventually) on to the A10.. but the axis seem to be reversed.. I presume the A10M uses a different motor layout? or is there some setting in the configure.h file i altered incorrectly?

Hi Vert,
I thought I was using your build! downloaded the latest nightly. the config file is for the 2650 v3 (a10m)

z offset is how far on z the probe is from the nozzle.
if you didn't remove the original z endstop you will have many issues with the probe they are effectively the exact same thing just mounted in different places they both use the same z min connection and you will get false readings with it still installed.
also the stock firmware is total garbage.

haha thanks for that... it was only after i read the manual (used the youtube) "Remove the Z max connector from the board and replace it with a 3Pin

Straight Pin. You need to use soldering iron here." and the rest of the manual that i realised the issue! geeetech do not have great documentation on the a10 or the 3d touch. the forums are providing more info... learnt more in the last few days than in all the time using flashforge/xyzprinting printers.

thanks again...
