Super noob, printer pushes to edge and grinds

I recently purchased and assembled my I3-PRO W. The motors are all working as I expect, but whenever I start a print job the printer goes to the limit on the left and back until it reaches its mechanical limit and then the motors make a grinding noise as they fail to advance any further for about 20 seconds.

I can use the calibration to change the home position, but I'm not sure where "home" is supposed to be. Is it the furthest X and Y position (front and left) that I want to use or is it the center of the print area? I suspect this is part of the problem.

I'm using Repetier-Host for the Mac, and following the instructions in the I3 Pro user manual at:http://www.geeetech.com/Documents/Geeet ... Manual.pdf

Thanks in advance for getting me on the right track!

Hi,You can check whether the wiring of each limit switch on the motherboard is correct.
Then enter M119 via manual control in Repetier Host.
Check the limit switch.

Thank you for the reply William. I think I may not have described the problem accurately.

I'm using Repetier host for the Mac, what one has is what one has sometimes.

The origin on the mac is 0, 0, 0.

I am facing the printer.

The X-axis switch is on my left, the position of 0 on the x axis is on the right.

When the signal to go "home" is sent to the printer (as in the start of a job), the extruder pushes itself all the way to the right where there is no stop switch.

Do I need to set home on the X-axis elsewhere to activate the switch limit switch on startup, so that the extruder moves left instead of right?

Hi,If the motor runs in the opposite direction as you expected,
You may need to modify the motor running direction in the firmware,
If false change to true
ture is changed to false.

Thank you William.

I found the problem. The X-axis switch was plugged into the wrong port. When I corrected that, the software apparently knew that there was no switch to attempt to hit on the X-min side. I'd also switched the Z and Y switches, which is why they weren't working as expected. With that change the behavior has stopped.

I appreciate you putting me on the right track.

:D I'm so glad you solve the problem by yourself.
